The majority of pupils who reside in the Aberdare district and who travel to school by public transport do so in designated school buses provided by transport operators. From other areas including:
- Rhondda Valleys and Pontypridd
- Abercynon and Mountain Ash
- Penderyn and Rhigos
- Llanfabon
Rhondda Cynon Taff County Borough Council provides designated school contract buses to and from the school.
The circumstances in which the Rhondda Cynon Taff County Borough Council meets the transport costs of pupils resident in the Borough are described in part 4 (Section A) of the booklet “Starting School”. Other County Borough Councils similarly provide designated school contract buses to and from their areas to the school. These include those provided by Neath and Port Talbot for pupils from Pontwalby, Pontneathvaughan and Glynneath, and, by arrangement with Powys County Council. Certain pupils from that administrative area are also able to travel to and from school by that service. Pupils from the Merthyr Tydfil County Borough travel to and from school using transport provided by that Authority.
For pupils resident outside Rhondda Cynon Taff, enquiries about transport should be made to the relevant Local Authority.
