Sport and Extra-Curricular
At St John's we aim to provide a broad range of extra-curricular activities to help stimulate students' minds and support healthy lifestyles.
Sport
We strive to provide all members of the school with opportunities to participate, whether in the form of recreational clubs or competitive inter-school activities. There are a number of clubs available for students of all abilities co-ordinated by staff at both lunch time and after school. Many students have used these as a platform to compete against other schools and gain representative honours at both regional and national level.
Educational Visits
Each year the school organises an expansive variety of educational visits and trips, which range from local day visits to residential visits abroad. Regardless of the distance travelled or duration spent, our primary aim is to provide students with opportunities beyond the classroom to develop their skills and broaden their knowledge of the world which they live in. Many departments also regularly organise subject specific visits, aimed at enhancing pupils' understanding of the topics being covered and the wider world of work.
Creative and Expressive Arts
There are plenty of opportunities for students to develop their skills and talents in creative and expressive arts. The school choirs and orchestra are integral to the life of the school and there are numerous clubs and opportunities for students to illustrate their art work at various public events.
Duke of Edinburgh
At school, pupils have the opportunity to achieve the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, at various levels. A Duke of Edinburgh skills day celebrates the work of pupils and staff in the summer term of each year.
