It has been a pleasure to take part in the Christmas Card Appeal this year. As a school community we have gathered approximately 500 cards which have been filled with festive messages by staff and pupils for isolated elderly people in our community. pic.twitter.com/9qRZGlKFp0— SJB Literacy and Numeracy () November 20, 2024

St John's is looking for a talented and suitably experienced senior leader to join us as our new Headteacher from September 2025. Click on the link for more details https://t.co/3MeWJ6He9j pic.twitter.com/PsidsBPTk2— StJohnsAberdare () October 24, 2024

Admissions

St John's has a published admission number (PAN), which permits the school to admit up to 160 pupils into each year group. Parents who apply for a place do so knowing that the school aims to provide an education based on Christian principles and therefore governors expect all students to take part in Christian worship at the school, attend all religious education lessons and to participate in all other educational activities.

Where there are more than 160 applications then governors will use oversubscription criteria, which is set out in its policy. A copy of which can be found in the download section.

Open Evening for Year 7 Applications for September 2025
On Thursday 26th October 2024, St John's will host an Open Evening from 3.30pm until 6.30pm. Families of pupils in Year 5 and Year 6 will have the opportunity to take a tour of the school, and attend a presentation by the Executive Headteacher. These will take place in the main hall at 3.30pm, which is repeated at 4.30pm.

To be considered for a place, an application must be submitted directly to the school by completing the application form. The deadline for completion of the application process is 12.00pm on Wednesday 23rd October 2024.

“I absolutely loved St Johns. It really was the best school I could have wished to go to. The teachers were fantastic as well as the atmosphere. I am still in contact with all my old friends. It is a school where you make friends for life! When I get married next year, two of my bridesmaids are girls that were in my class in school" (Past pupil)
