Seren Network

The Seren Academy is a Welsh Government initiative dedicated to helping Wales’ brightest learners achieve their full academic potential and support their education pathway into leading universities in Wales, the UK, and overseas.

The Seren Academy programme is available to pupils/students from state schools and further education colleges across Wales, regardless of their economic background, personal situation, or location. The programme supports the aspirations and ambitions of the most talented and able learners, helping to widen their horizons, develop passion for their chosen field of study, and achieve their goals. The programme provides extra-curricular study experiences and enrichment activities that enhance and go beyond the curriculum.

To achieve this we support Seren pupils/students in their pursuit of excellence via three strategic objectives:

  • Ignite learners' curiosity and motivation for their learning;
  • Empower learners to make ambitious, informed choices about their future educational pathway; and
  • Advance learners' ability to reach their potential and succeed at leading universities.

Underpinning these objectives are four values promoted throughout The Seren Academy

  1. Promote equity of opportunity, fair access, and provision in Seren with the needs of the pupil/student at the core;
  2. Promote a global outlook, celebrating the ambition, achievement, and success of young people in Wales on the world stage;
  3. Promote collaboration across the tiers of our education system, government departments and industry.
  4. Promote continuous improvement of The Seren Academy through monitoring and evaluation, underpinned by evidence-informed practices implemented with rigour.

Thousands of Seren graduates have been successful in studying at some of the best universities, not only in the UK, but all over the world, including Harvard, Princeton, Chicago, MIT and Melbourne to name a few. The Seren Academy will provide you with the tools and support to fully realise your academic potential, wherever that might take you.
