Welcome to St John's

MBL 202324I am proud to welcome you to St John Baptist Church in Wales High School. We are an 11-18 mixed comprehensive school, serving the Christian and non-Christian communities within the local authority.

Our aim is to provide all our pupils with an exceptional education, with a caring and supportive Christian environment. We seek to achieve this by ensuring St John’s pupils

  • Achieve their potential academically;
  • Develop the skills to enable them to progress to the next stage in their lives; and
  • Demonstrate the values and attributes to become good citizens.

We are committed to providing the highest quality learning experiences, a strong pastoral system and an extensive range of sporting, cultural, physical and extra-curricular activities.

St John’s is proud to have a strong reputation within the local and wider community. Public examination outcomes are consistently strong, in terms of the grades pupils achieve against their individual starting points. We work hard to ensure that all pupils have a clear path to the next stage in their lives. These means that many of our sixth form students leave us to continue studies at university, undertake apprenticeships and/or secure full-time employment.

Should you visit St John’s, you will see that our pupils are respectful, hard-working, and proud to be part of our community. They are an asset to their families, the school and themselves. Similarly, we have a committed group of teaching and support staff who are dedicated to St John’s and its pupils.

Children have ‘one chance’ at education and they deserve the very best! At St John’s, we see it as our role to ensure we provide them with this. We set the highest expectations of and for our pupils, and we are committed to exploring every avenue in our pursuit of excellence in all areas of our work. We place great importance in working together in partnership with families so that each pupil receives the best possible experience at secondary school.

Whether you are a prospective parent or member of staff and wish to find out more about St John’s, then please do get in touch. We would love to hear from you.

Marc Belli
Executive Headteacher

"St John Baptist CiW High School is an extremely happy, inclusive and enthusiastic learning community" (Estyn)
